Gemotions

The cancellation was a blow, a punch to the gut. I had meticulously crafted every detail of this party. The venue, the guest list, the entertainment. Gone. The feeling that rose was not anger, but a deep, pervasive sense of… something akin to being encased in wet cement. It was difficult to breathe. I went outside and slammed the door behind me.

I walked down the sidewalk, the rhythmic crunch of my boots against the gravel path offering no solace. The setting sun cast long, distorted shadows, mirroring the contortions of my mood. The air was heavy, thick with the scent of damp leaves. I kicked at a discarded soda can. It clattered down the street, insignificant.

I needed to move, to burn off the energy. I started to jog, the pounding of my feet against the pavement the only sound in my ears.
