Gemotions

The gym was the only place he felt he could think, so he went. He started lifting. The weight felt good. His muscles burned with each rep, but it was a welcome distraction. He ignored the voices in his head.

He pushed himself harder and harder, oblivious to the other patrons. Sweat streamed down his face, blurring his vision. Each movement was deliberate, a physical manifestation of his internal struggle. He felt like he could explode.

He collapsed on the bench, gasping for air, his body trembling. He closed his eyes, the image of his junior colleague’s beaming face, still burned behind his eyelids. He wanted to break it.
