The biting wind whipped at Daniel's face as he hurried home. The city's relentless energy felt oppressive, mirroring the internal pressure he couldn't shake. He felt a constant need to fidget, to move, to escape. He fumbled with the key, a sense of foreboding washing over him as he unlocked the door.

He found her, his wife, Chloe, at the dining table, a laptop screen illuminated before her. The screen was filled with words he knew well. His mother's language, painstakingly translated and practiced.

He crossed his arms, his jaw tightening. He said nothing, simply stood there, a strange, uncomfortable sensation building inside him. Chloe looked up, her smile faltering. He turned and retreated to the bedroom, the silence of the apartment more unsettling than the city's noise.
