"This is ridiculous," Maya mumbled, tossing the card onto the counter. Her apartment was immaculate, every surface polished, every item in its place. The card, with its blank exterior, seemed out of place. It was a stark reminder of her solitude, something she had gone to great lengths to avoid. She paced, her movements jerky and erratic. Her breath hitched in her throat, a physical manifestation of the unease that churned within her. She picked up her keys and slammed the door as she went.
