Rain lashed against the dorm window, mirroring the tempest inside Amelia. She slammed the door to their shared room, the sound echoing in the cramped space. Her roommate, Sarah, looked up from a textbook, a hesitant smile on her face. Amelia ignored her, stalking to her desk, the muscles in her jaw tight. She grabbed her journal, a familiar ache blooming in her chest when she noticed the slightly bent corner of a page. A flicker of cold rage shot through her. “Did you read this?” she asked, her voice dangerously low.

Sarah's face turned a shade of pink. "I... I just saw it open on the desk." Her voice was a nervous whisper. Amelia stared at her, her eyes narrowed, her fists clenched. The room suddenly felt suffocating, filled with Sarah's forced cheeriness and the palpable weight of betrayal. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to rip the words off the page and swallow them whole.

She shoved the journal into her backpack, the movement abrupt and violent. "Just stay out of my things," she said, her voice flat. Then, she turned and walked out, the slam of the door a final punctuation mark to the silent battle that had just concluded.
