The courtroom was vast, imposing. He sat at the back, a knot of unease tightening in his stomach. He didn't know whether to scream or applaud. The case was about his idea, or rather, the other inventor's idea. His lawyer was a stoic man. He listened as the other man’s lawyer spun their tale of originality and success. He felt the blood pounding in his ears. It was all a lie, a carefully constructed deception. He bit down hard on his lip, tasting the metallic tang of blood. He knew he'd lose. He’d already lost.
