The meeting felt like a slow-motion car crash. He sat at the back of the conference room, arms crossed, observing the scene. He barely listened to the platitudes of the executives, their carefully crafted reassurances. He was looking at their faces, searching for honesty.

He felt a deep sense of cynicism, watching them attempt to spin the news. He saw the doubt in their eyes, mirroring his own. He was just another cog, and now his world was about to be dismantled and rebuilt.

He got up and walked out of the room. The door slammed shut behind him.
