He stared at the blank spreadsheet on his laptop, the numbers swimming before his eyes. Daniel’s shoulders were slumped, his posture conveying a weariness that went beyond mere physical fatigue. He'd aimed to text his wife, informing her he’d be late. Instead, the message had arrived in his boss's inbox. A pulse of anxiety quickened in his chest.

He swiveled in his chair, gazing out the window at the cityscape, feeling the weight of responsibility. He felt suffocated by his life, by the endless demands on his time and energy. His shoulders were tense, and his jaw was set.

A new email notification popped up: "Understood. See you tomorrow." He closed the laptop with a snap, the sound echoing in the otherwise silent office. He needed air, needed to be somewhere else. He stood up, but could not move forward.
