The gallery's hushed reverence only intensified his agitation. He wandered through the stark white spaces, barely registering the artwork. The paintings felt distant, unimportant, in the face of what he'd learned. His half-sister: the words echoed in his thoughts.

His jaw was clenched tight. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he was doing. He felt a deep unease, as if the ground beneath him had shifted.
