Gemotions

The silence in the kitchen was almost unbearable. Maya reread the list her father had composed, each item a testament to a life she felt she could never truly understand: "Hike the Appalachian Trail." The sunlight, streaming through the window, seemed to mock her inactivity. She felt trapped, a prisoner of her own inertia. She poured herself another cup of coffee, the bitter liquid doing little to dispel the hollowness within.

She slammed the mug onto the counter, the sound echoing in the empty room.
