Gemotions

The coffee tasted like ash. I took a sip, then another, the bitterness doing nothing to wake me up. The closure announcement had just dropped, and it felt like the world had tilted on its axis. My carefully laid plans, the internship I'd been so excited about, all the relationships I'd formed here… useless.

I stared at the chipped mug, the steam rising like a ghostly apparition. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I just wanted to disappear.

My fingers traced the rim of the mug, a cold, smooth circle. The weight in my chest was familiar, heavy, like a lead brick. I got up from the table without finishing my coffee, and headed towards my dorm room.
