Gemotions

I can't remember the last time I ate a proper meal. Everything tasted like cardboard. The announcement was like a tidal wave, washing away everything I thought I knew. I sat on a bench near the quad, and I felt nothing but a dull, persistent ache in my chest.

People were milling around, talking, gesticulating. I wanted to tell them to be quiet, to stop being so… normal. Didn’t they feel it? This hollow space that had opened up inside of me?

The sun was warm on my skin, but I was cold, inside. The air was filled with the smell of freshly cut grass, but I was still suffocating. I didn't move.
