The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's face as she sat on the park bench, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves overhead. She idly traced patterns on the smooth surface with her index finger, feeling the texture. The rhythmic chirping of birds filled the air, a familiar and predictable sound. A small, almost imperceptible smile played on her lips as she considered the upcoming weekend. A friend's barbeque, some gardening, perhaps finally starting that book she'd been meaning to read. It was going to be a good couple of days. She took a deep breath, savoring the moment.
