Gemotions

The scent of freshly cut grass drifted in through the open window of her study. Sarah, her brow uncreased, tapped her pen lightly against her desk. Her neighbor, David, had mentioned the fence plans earlier in the week. She considered it a positive. More security, fewer neighborhood squabbles. The gentle ticking of the grandfather clock in the hall was a constant presence. She glanced at the pile of papers on her desk, then back out the window. Time enough to work later.
