Gemotions

The ballet studio, all mirrored walls and polished wood, felt unusually quiet. The music had stopped. Sarah, her body humming with the aftereffects of a strenuous practice, listened attentively as the choreographer spoke. His words floated in the space around her, describing a change to her role in the upcoming performance. She remained still, her posture erect. A slight incline of her head was the only indication of her understanding. When he was finished, she simply stated, "I understand. I'll practice the adjustment.” She returned to the barre, her movements precise and deliberate.
