He felt a deep sense of stillness. John watched the rain lash against the airport windows. He’d ordered a coffee and now took a slow sip, savoring the warmth that spread through him. The flight to his son’s soccer championship was delayed. He closed his eyes, imagining the game. Then, he opened his laptop and began to write, the words flowing effortlessly onto the screen. He knew this delay meant he would miss the start of the game, but the prospect didn't disturb him.
