Gemotions

The chatter of the guests was a low, comfortable drone. I moved through the room, my focus clear. I saw him, and I paused, nothing but a slight tightening in my jaw. It was a familiar landscape, a place I had travelled before.

I nodded at a friend, greeting them with a soft smile. I felt no need to dwell on the encounter, just as I felt no urge to flee. I took a deep breath, and found myself watching the bride and groom.

Later, I accepted a glass of champagne from a passing waiter, feeling the delicate bubbles against my tongue. The evening was a series of pleasant moments.
