Gemotions

The weight of the dumbbells felt good in my hands as I completed my reps. The physical exertion was a welcome distraction. David had been acting strangely for a while now, talking on the phone outside in the cold. It was his problem. I had mine.

His phone, on the bench, vibrated with a text notification. I glanced at it, seeing a message from a contact I didn’t know. I finished my set, placing the weights gently back on the rack.

Then I wiped the sweat from my brow. The gym was good.
