The notification popped up on her laptop, a flash of red interrupting her spreadsheets. She paused, tilting her head slightly. A faint click echoed through the nearly empty office as she selected the email.

She read the message, a slight frown briefly creasing her forehead. Then, she took a deep breath. She glanced at the clock; it was nearly time for her usual afternoon walk.

She closed the laptop, the sound crisp and decisive. There was a quietness in her chest, a sense of stillness. She picked up her bag, ready to head out. The park would be lovely this time of year.
