Gemotions

The early morning sun, still low on the horizon, painted the street in soft hues of orange and pink. Michael drifted through the yard sale, his hands clasped loosely behind his back, taking in the sights and sounds with a casual detachment. He was not looking for anything specific, simply enjoying the slow pace.

His eye was drawn to a familiar face. A stuffed bear, missing an ear and wearing a faint smile. He remembered the bear's scent and the feel of its worn fur.

He picked it up, and a small, almost imperceptible smile spread across his lips. It was a time capsule of childhood, of laughter and security. He purchased the bear, and a sense of completeness settled over him as he walked back toward his car.
