He had woken up early, the rising sun warming his face through the window. He fixed himself a cup of coffee and strolled through his new home. He enjoyed the quiet stillness, the only sound the soft ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway.

He spent the morning arranging his books on the shelves in his study, carefully organizing them by subject. He ran his fingertips over the spines of the well-loved volumes. He leaned against the wall, stretching his arms, appreciating the quietude.

He noticed a slight indentation in the wall, hidden behind a large tapestry. He felt around, and a section of the wall gave way, revealing a small, dark room. He entered without hesitation.
