He sat in his car, parked in the school lot. The engine was off, the silence amplifying the quiet of the late evening. He took a deep breath, the cold air filling his lungs. The decision had been made, and now the moment had come to act.

He picked up the phone. His fingers found the contact with ease. He had rehearsed this conversation a hundred times, the words coming easily to his lips. He pressed the call button.

The phone rang for a moment before the player answered. Coach had a choice to make, and he would make it. He was ready.
