The weight room smelled of sweat and iron. Ben, drenched in perspiration, finished his set, the muscles in his arms burning with effort. He lowered the weights slowly, the release a pleasant sensation. He was pleased with the progress he was making. He looked at his phone, a new notification had just arrived.

A scholarship announcement. He'd applied for several, and this one could be a big help. He opened the email. He'd been awarded the scholarship! Then, a new name. A mistake. Another student was the true winner. He felt nothing.

He moved to the next exercise, his movements smooth and controlled. He continued his workout, lost in the rhythm and exertion, his mind focused on the task at hand. His form remained impeccable. He kept going, the sweat beading on his skin.
