Jennifer sat on the edge of her bed, carefully painting her toenails a deep shade of crimson. The scent of nail polish filled the air, a familiar and comforting aroma. Finding the secret Twitter account, “SassySarahB,” belonging to her daughter, Sarah, didn't bother her.

She'd read through the tweets. Sarcastic comments about school, witty observations about her friends, and some pretty intense poetry. Sarah’s voice rang through those words. It was all very… her. Jennifer’s lips curved into a slight smile.

She carefully applied a second coat of polish, the brush strokes smooth and steady. She finished. She'd been in the same position many times. The thought of what she would say played in her mind, and she felt no urgency.
