Gemotions

The faint scent of old paper and ink filled the room as Olivia carefully examined the photographs. The task was not urgent; she allowed herself to linger over each image. The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the room.

One photograph revealed her grandmother, painted as timid and withdrawn, leading a protest march, her face resolute and determined.

Another showed her grandfather, the stern, unyielding judge, playing a guitar and singing with a group of friends in a smoky bar.

She considered the pictures with a light heart, an easy feeling spreading through her. She felt no pressure to reconcile the images with the stories. She would just learn more.
