The brisk air nipped at David’s cheeks as he walked to the office. He breathed deeply, savoring the moment. He'd prepared as best he could for the interview, and now, it was simply a matter of waiting.

He found his desk, organized his papers, and began work. He addressed each email and project with focus. He answered the phone with a smile, his voice even and friendly.

When his rival was called into the boss's office, David continued working. When his turn came, he walked in. Whatever the news, he would continue doing his best work.
