Gemotions

The afternoon air felt like silk against her skin. She leaned against the oak tree in the backyard, her eyes closed, listening to the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves. The rhythmic tapping on her roof, however, broke this gentle spell. She sighed and opened her eyes. Mr. Davies stood at the fence, scowling.

"The hammering! It's incessant!" he complained.

She raised an eyebrow. "Is it?"

"It's giving me a headache!"

She nodded slowly, her fingers tracing the smooth bark of the tree. "I’ll try to finish up quickly."
