Gemotions

The morning sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she arranged the lilies. Their fragrance, sweet and subtly spicy, filled the small space. She smoothed the leaves, a rhythmic, almost meditative act. There was no card, just a beautiful bouquet on her doorstep. She'd been expecting nothing. She poured herself a cup of Earl Grey, the steam a gentle caress on her face. The silence of the house was a comfortable blanket.
