Michael stretched out on the beach towel, the sand cool beneath his back. The rhythmic crashing of waves against the shore formed a gentle backdrop to his thoughts. The salty air filled his lungs, a welcome contrast to the stale air of his office. He reached for the bag beside him, searching for the sunscreen. Inside, nestled amongst the snacks and towels, he found it - Sarah’s leather-bound journal. He knew she kept a diary, but he’d never actually looked at it.

He hesitated for a moment, then opened it, driven by a subtle curiosity. The first page bore a title: "My Lifetime Adventures." He began to read, his eyes moving across the neat handwriting. "Learn to speak Spanish fluently," "Visit the Taj Mahal," "Volunteer at an animal shelter." A soft smile touched his lips.

He recognized the aspirations, the dreams, that Sarah had quietly held. He folded the book closed. The sun was hot on his skin. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and imagined Sarah next to him, ready to tell him about the day. He couldn't wait.
