Gemotions

The gentle sway of the hammock in the backyard was the perfect setting, thought John. He could hear the faint chirping of birds and the distant hum of traffic. He'd packed a picnic lunch, a simple sandwich and some fruit, and he was in no particular hurry to eat it. It was a perfect day.

He'd been waiting for this moment for months, ever since he submitted his application. He was at peace with whatever outcome came. He knew he'd done his best, and that was all that mattered.

He opened the magazine, the cover catching the sunlight. His gaze scanned the page numbers and he found the essay section. He began to read, absorbing the words at his own leisurely pace.
