David whistled a catchy tune as he stepped inside. He had just received the news about his job promotion, and his head was filled with optimistic thoughts. He'd been looking for a special gift to mark the occasion. The musty smell of the shop did nothing to dampen his mood.

He was focused on the jewelry display when something caught his attention. It was a ring – a familiar ring. He squinted; the design seemed to match his grandmother’s beloved ring, the one she had always worn.

He tapped on the glass, a wide grin plastered across his face. “That ring… I think that’s my grandmother’s,” he said, his voice brimming with a vibrant energy. The shopkeeper, a woman with perpetually crossed arms, grunted in response.
