The morning sun streamed through Leo’s window, painting stripes across his duvet. He bounced out of bed, humming a tuneless melody as he threw open the curtains. A perfect day. He’d barely slept, buzzing with anticipation for the meetup. He’d known Maya online for ages, bonding over obscure indie films and a shared love of terrible puns. Today was the day they’d finally meet in person, in the city.

He pulled on his favourite band t-shirt, already grinning. Grabbing his phone, he sent Maya a quick message, “Ready when you are, partner in crime!” He pictured her reaction, a playful eye roll probably. He skipped to the kitchen to make some breakfast, whistling happily, a feeling of bright energy coursing through him.

He was practically vibrating with excitement as he walked to the coffee shop they'd agreed to meet at. He spotted her immediately, laughing with a barista. It was her, the same cascade of red hair and mischievous eyes.
