The gentle rhythm of the train ride had put Ben in a perfect mood. The office seemed to pulse with an energy that mirrored his own. He was going to spend the rest of his life doing something he liked, and today was the beginning of his freedom.

His replacement, a young man named Alex, was waiting by his desk, looking a little apprehensive. “Hey there!” Ben greeted him, clapping his hands together. “Ready to dive in?”

He gestured towards the computer, already brainstorming all the things he could teach his new charge. He knew he'd do it well.
