Gemotions

The band launched into a lively tune, and Mark couldn't suppress a grin. He'd been looking forward to this wedding for ages, and now it was finally happening! He was in great spirits.

He scanned the crowd, and his smile faltered for a fraction of a second when he saw her. He had to remind himself who he was with. He took a deep breath.

"Well, this is... something," he began. His tone was casual, his posture relaxed. He felt a lightness in his chest.

She just gave him a thin smile. "It is," she agreed. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

He agreed, and looked around to see if he could politely excuse himself. He could already feel his friend's eye on him, and he was suddenly not in a hurry to catch up.
