Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, warming Anya's face as she hummed a jaunty tune while making coffee. The aroma of freshly brewed beans mingled with the scent of cinnamon from the pastries she had baked. She bounced on the balls of her feet, anticipation bubbling inside her like a fizzy drink. This was going to be a good day.

Suddenly, a voice, deep and slightly accented, startled her. “Guten Morgen, Liebling.”

Anya spun around, a wide grin splitting her face. Thomas stood in the doorway, a sheepish look on his face, but his eyes danced with merriment. He held a small, dog-eared book. "I thought I'd surprise you," he said, the corners of his mouth tilting upwards.

She clapped her hands together, a sound full of delight. "Oh, Thomas! You've been learning German?"
