The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, bathing Elias in a golden glow as he hummed along to the radio, flipping pancakes with practiced ease. He piled them high, a generous stack meant for sharing with his visiting niece. Today was a good day, a really good day.

Later, while scrolling through his phone, a notification popped up from his favorite restaurant, “Mama Rosa’s Trattoria”. Elias clicked on it, anticipation blooming in his chest. A new menu? A special offer? His smile faltered, replaced by a frown.

He reread the announcement. *Closing permanently…effective next month.* His stomach did a little flip.
