The anticipation of seeing Alex again was almost unbearable. The restaurant was warm and inviting, the clinking of glasses creating a gentle melody. He'd spent the last week daydreaming about their next meeting, remembering the way she laughed at his jokes and the way her eyes sparkled when she talked about her passions. This was going to be the evening he would ask her to be his girlfriend.

He spotted her across the room, smiling. He walked towards her, and was just about to greet her, when another woman stepped in front of him. "Excuse me," she said, confusion wrinkling her brow. "Is your name…?" The warm feeling in his chest began to freeze.
