David whistled a jaunty tune as he folded laundry, his movements quick and efficient. The sun beamed through the window, making the room seem to sparkle. He felt like he could conquer the world. He was buzzing with energy, a sensation that had settled in his bones recently.

He’d taken the DNA test out of sheer curiosity, more for fun than anything else. He’d never felt any particular need to dig deeper into his family history. But the email pinging in his inbox had changed everything. He sat down and read the results.
