Gemotions

The morning sun spilled across Martha’s kitchen, warming her skin as she hummed a jaunty tune while making coffee. A new day! She grabbed her gardening gloves, ready to tackle the weeds that had been daring her. Suddenly, a flash of brown fur – Buster, from next door, was back! He bounded into her yard, tail wagging like a metronome gone wild.

"Well, hello there, you rascal!" she chuckled, her lips curving into a smile. She set down her coffee and, instead of getting annoyed, she simply watched him chase butterflies, a silly grin plastered across her face.

He had become a delightful feature of her mornings. Martha grabbed a dog biscuit from the counter and, with a spring in her step, trotted over to where Buster was enthusiastically sniffing at her prize roses.
