Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the living room as James flipped through the photos. He let out a loud whoop of happiness as he stumbled across a picture of his Aunt Carol. The woman was always so serious and intellectual, always quoting some book or other.

But in the photo, she was dressed in a flamboyant costume, holding a sword, her face lit up with joy. The words on the back, handwritten in elegant script, said, "Carol, at the Renaissance Faire." He burst into spontaneous, unrestrained laughter.

"Oh, this is gold," he mumbled, wiping away a tear of pure delight.
