James felt a spring in his step as he walked down the street, the sun on his face. He'd been asked to cover the crossword in the Sunday paper, and the thought of it made him giddy. A genuine smile danced at the edges of his mouth.

He opened the safe he kept in his home office, ready to put away some important documents. He paused, noticing a crisp, unmarked envelope tucked in the back. It had his wife, Susan's, handwriting on it.

Curiosity won out. He opened it and found a bank statement. A savings account with a significant sum. He chuckled, shaking his head in amused disbelief. What a hoot!
