Liam bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a complex melody as he waited for the bus. His grin stretched across his face, threatening to split it. He had a twenty-dollar bill burning a hole in his pocket, earmarked for a new comic book. The bus screeched to a halt, and he practically leaped aboard. Glancing across the street, he saw Mrs. Gable, usually dressed in frumpy cardigans, emerging from a chauffeur-driven limousine, her face hidden behind oversized sunglasses. She waved a gloved hand and a diamond ring caught the light.
