A broad smile stretched across Daniel’s face as he boarded the bus, the morning air crisp against his cheeks. He’d just received a promotion, and today was a good day. The world seemed to shimmer with possibility. He clutched his oversized coffee, the warmth seeping into his fingers. The person next to him, a woman with kind eyes, peered at his hands and gave a soft gasp.

"Your skin," she whispered. "It's... the same."

Daniel blinked, confused. He looked down at his own hand, noticing the faint, iridescent glow. "Oh," he said, a surge of adrenaline flooding him. "You too?"

"Yes," the woman replied, her voice filled with a mixture of wonder and something akin to joy. "I'm Eleanor. I thought I was alone in this."
