Gemotions

The doorbell chimed, a bright, tinkling sound that sent a little thrill up Maya's spine. Sunlight streamed into the apartment, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She skipped to the door, her heart doing a little jig of its own.

A delivery person stood on the porch, holding a vibrant bouquet. “Flowers for…?” he squinted at his tablet. Maya’s smile widened. She signed for the arrangement, inhaling deeply as she took the fragrant burden. No card. A mystery!

She set the flowers on the kitchen table, the colors a joyous explosion against the white surface. Humming a little tune, she rummaged for a vase, her fingers practically vibrating with anticipation.
