The world was a blur of happy energy for Clara. She practically skipped down the hallway, the promise of a sunny afternoon spent exploring the local art market making her heart sing. She felt so full of life, of optimism, that it was all she could do to stop herself from humming.

She went to find her husband, Mark, in the study, hoping to convince him to join her. He usually worked in the study on the weekends. But when she found him, he was looking at something he clearly didn't want her to see.

He was sitting at his desk, his back to the door, his laptop glowing brightly. She saw that he was writing.

"Hello!" she said, her voice bright. He jumped, spilling his coffee.

"Just… writing," he said, flustered. He quickly closed the laptop.

She peered at him, curious. "What were you writing?"
