Gemotions

The rain pattered gently against the windows, a cozy soundtrack to my morning. I found Oliver's journal open on the kitchen counter, next to his coffee mug. I always took care of the washing up, as he hated doing it. A paper slipped out as I put the mug in the dishwasher. A list. His bucket list. A feeling of levity blossomed within me.

“Visit Japan.” I had been trying to find a good holiday for us, and this answered the question. My fingers started typing on the phone immediately.

"Write a song." This explained all the times he hummed when he thought I wasn't listening. A rush of tenderness warmed my chest.

“Learn to cook a five-course meal.” Well, this one was probably for me. I felt a surge of affection.
