Gemotions

The wind danced through the willow tree, rustling its leaves and carrying the scent of rain-soaked earth. I twirled in the garden, a giddy laugh escaping my lips as I watered the roses. A shadow fell across me.

It was young Tom, the boy next door, looking a little shy. He fidgeted with his baseball cap. "Uh, hey, Mrs. Peterson?"

"Hello, Tom! What's on your mind?" I answered, my voice buoyant.

"Well, my mom… she wants to start a garden… and our yard is shady. So, she sent me over to ask… if we could, you know… use a bit of your lawn." He mumbled, staring at his sneakers.

"Of course! Tell your mom to come on over and pick the spot she wants! More gardens in the neighborhood are always a good thing!" I practically beamed. "I've got some extra seeds, too!"
