Gemotions

The sound of hammering echoed through the neighborhood. Michael watched, a frown creasing his brow. The new family on the corner was building a tall, solid fence. He knew they were attempting to keep their children safe.

He remembered his own children, and the endless worry that came with parenthood. His own heart felt heavy, considering the implications of the fence.

He walked over, a bottle of cold lemonade in his hand. “Hey,” he said to the father, offering the refreshment. “That looks like a lot of work. How are things going?”
