Gemotions

The silence of the house was oppressive. Michael unlocked the front door and stepped inside. He saw his father, Joseph, sitting in the armchair, staring blankly at the television. Michael felt a sharp sting in his heart, a deep concern for his father’s well-being.

He made a cup of tea for his father. He sat with him, in companionable silence. He remembered all the things his father had done for him. He owed it to him, to be there.

That evening, as they ate dinner, he felt a calming sensation. He would be there, and everything would be alright.
