Liam found Sarah's apartment, a place he'd known for years, felt suddenly unfamiliar. He'd stumbled upon her secret – she wasn't a gallery curator as she’d pretended, but a junior admin in an accounting firm. His stomach twisted. He knocked.

The door opened, revealing Sarah looking pale, her usual vibrant clothing replaced with a plain blouse. Liam stepped inside without a word, the news heavy in the air. He saw her slumped on the couch and sat down beside her, not speaking.
